About
Electric Vehicle Technology was established in 1985 by John & Kerry Hill to develop and promote Electric Vehicles.
We ran the National Secretariat for the Australian Electric Vehicle Association (AEVA) for many years.
We participated in AEVA “Electrathon” events with “The Flying Kayak” and “The Dart”. These fun vehicles were primitive test beds for developing techniques to improve efficiency and safety of practical EVs.
Solar PV panels were installed on our farm shed in 2007 so we could reduce our dependence on fossil generated electricity.
Solar hot water using Apricus Evacuated Tube technology was installed on our house in 2008 to further reduce electricity usage.
In 2013 a Nissan Leaf was purchased for John’s daily commute to his job in Melbourne.
Then the Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV was released in 2014 and became Kerry’s farm vehicle.
Gradually battery electric farm equipment was introduced to retire old petrol gear. Battery chainsaws, pole saw, brushcutters, mowers & blowers.
Husqvarna released their “Rider Battery” mower in 2016 so John replaced his old petrol slasher. It was so successful he soon bought a second one.
Our son, Ashley, placed his order for a Tesla Model 3 in 2017 and received one of the first to be delivered in Australia mid 2019. John bought his Tesla Model 3 later that year and our daughter Pauline took over the Nissan Leaf.
The Cybertruck was also unveiled in 2019 so both Ashley and John were quick to put in their pre-orders. We expect it will not be available in Australia until at least 2025.
